Sentry Crash Report:
Attachments: Example of a crash report for which reporting failed

Description Willy Gommel 2010-02-22 10:50:14 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.5)
Compiler: Linux C 4.4
OS: Linux
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

I'm talking about kcrash assistant, NOT the web site.

Unfortunately, every time I come up with a complete report, kcrash assistant tries to submit the report; every time, it comes back with a message, "Unknown error", accompanied by a "Retry" button. This is disastrous for any real reporting of errors by less savvy users. Thank you very much!

Mh, this could happen when the website is having problems / too much cpu load...
or if the bug report contains invalid fields/values or characters...
I already added code to handle various situations.
-You could try this on KDE SC 4.4; and if you are still experiencing the bug, I could try to give you some patch to get more debug information.
Regards

Any news about this ?
Comment 3 E.Patton 2010-03-29 21:57:32 UTC
I have this issue as a hard error on recent crashes.

KDE 4.4.1 Fedora 12 x86_64

Example of a crash report for which reporting failed

I've attached a failed crash report (not inline in case characters are an issue and also because the crash duplicates a known issue).

NB I am not reporting the crash in Amarok, only using it for an example of a report with a problem.

Re: web site load - I was able to browse and search the web site in between retry attempts to submit the crash report. A Wireshark trace did not show any problems (e.g. TCP retries) but the TLS prevented any view of the application level conversation.

@E.Patton: could you review your system logs and check if you have messages like the ones described at bug 217742 ?

Nothing in the current .xsesson-errors. When I next get a crash (unless you can suggest a know hard crash?), I'll capture the .xsession-errors.

I get the following if I open konqueror and go to the bookmarked https://bugs.kde.org:

Looks like related to the SSL error messages described at bug 217742...
