Mailto-URL aren’t detected correctly. The places-plugin only recognizes them, when the colon is followed by two slashes, e. g. “mailto://foo@example.com”.

It seems to be an issue of krunner, because for example in konqueror mailto-URL still work. Why do different KDE-components have seperate URL precessing mechanisms?

I can confirm that. It's a kde 4.4 regression. Was working fine in 4.3
