I want to be able to sort by artist, sort (group really) by album, and sort by track number. However, this poses a problem with compilation albums. I want Various Artist albums to be grouped when I sort by artist and album.

Currently I can sort by album first, but that puts the artists out of order, and it makes no sense to alphabetize by album title if you're not first alphabetizing by artist name.

So, I'd like the option to treat artist name as "Various Artist" for the purpose of sorting tracks by artist where the album the track is part of is tracked as a Various Artist album.

Without this, you cannot keep artists in ABC order, albums in ABC order, AND see the full track listing for your VA albums in one spot; the playlist jumps like mad when playing a VA album straight through.

I think this was pretty much implemented in mid 2010's (e.g. commit 78415dfb1d44c59a0f53748071ce57b794abd83a in 2013) and works very nicely nowadays. Closing.
