I am using KDE 4.3.4 as currently packaged in Debian unstable amd64. Thus my kmail version is 1.12.4. I already asked for help on debian-kde mailinglist, but nobody was able to help me.

Since the last upgrade on my system I am facing the following problem. Whenever I want to use the kmail composer for either writing a new mail or for replying to incoming mail, kmail immediately crashes. I already tried another, completely new, user on my system, so nothing in my ~/.kde directory could be the cause of the problem, but same behaviour. Whenever kmail wants to open composer it crashes.

Like suggested, I installed *.dbg packages and gdb, so here comes the backtrace - hope this is of use for you for this really annoying problem:
