libkdcraw-4.3.5, which is distributed in kdegraphics-4.3.5, still uses the code from LibRaw-0.7.2. That old version do not support many common cameras, such as the Canon T1i/500D.
The following patch updates kdegraphics-4.3.5 to the latest version of LibRaw (it's too long to cut&paste here):

dcraw.c has now (18th March 2010) been updated to include the latest Canon EOS 550D -  see http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=2970192&group_id=127649&atid=709089

So LibRaw needs updating to the latest dcraw.c then libkdcraw needs updating to the new LibRaw.

This bug report is old and later versions of kdegraphics include updated libkdcraw.
