Version: (using KDE 4.3.4)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Hi !
sorry to be making a comparison with gnome. but it seems they have some kind of way to let application developer register config panels. when I click on "Windows", it even mention I am running kwin but there is no configuration tool for it.

at the bottom, there is bunch of extra config tools that are not gnome or kde related. stuff like, ibus, anthy, java, HPLIP, NVIDIA, etc.

it would be great to see them under System Settings

System Settings already has the capability to launch external applications inbuilt. It is just a case of adding the needed *.desktop files, nothing more is needed in System Settings with 4.4.

Could you please if possible provide a copy of one of the modules *.desktop files which is an external application? ie. the NVidia control panel.

I'm filing a bug with Ubuntu, The nvidia package could provide the .desktop file

can you post a link to your Ubuntu bug ?

it would be awesome if NVidia would post .desktop files for KDE as well.

or could KDE read those files in the Gnome folder?

also, I think KDE should spread its config module to Gnome, that's a sort of advertisement.

if someone has KDE installed, it should see those config modules in gnome as well ;)

I think

As mentioned, this is already possible.

The easy way is to just add a desktop file for it. The harder way is to write a KCM to wrap the functionality in question. Various distros like Kubuntu and Manjaro do this these days.
