For some users for whom bandwidth is costly (for example mobile broadband users), viewing the size of an update before updating is very important. PackageKit itself supports this feature, and the GNOME PackageKit frontend supports this feature as well.

To implement this, the download size of each update could be given its own column in the package view in the updater.

Yup, I know this problem but PackageKit does not support this the right way,
hopefully in 0.6 it will, the problem is, the package size is not the same as download size, since you might have already downloaded some stuff we are discussing how to do that the best way.
