It seems that Dolphin doesn't have the feature well established since long in Konqueror which is to display files using the '*'
for example display all files with the same extension (*.extension)
or display all files which name contains a given word (*word*)
...

Thanks for the bug report! This has been reported already (for the related issue of wildcards like '*' in the filter bar, see bug 208259).
