Description Dmitriy Styazhkin 2010-01-30 18:44:47 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.4)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Archlinux Packages

I run Arch Linux, and KDE 4.3.4, for some reasons I don't want to start my system with kdm, and prefer to start it thorough ~/.xinitrc I've seen, that there are no shutdown/reboot buttons. I think there is some possibility to make these options available in KDE (at least I've seen same option when I run LXDE, and there it was undependent on way I start the X server).

uhm, assigning a task titled "do <something> without kdm" to kdm is a bit ironic, wouldn't you think?
ksmserver wasn't a bad place for it, because it is what is actually executing the shutdown request. the backend code would be presumably in the DisplayManager class in libkworkspace, but a direct invocation of solid may be also considered.

KDM is dead. It also works with SDDM nowadays \o/ I didn't test without proper session startup but I doubt we support this usecase.
