Version:           kopete 4:4.3.2-0ubuntu4 (using KDE 4.3.2)
OS:                Linux

When I open Kopete about 200 new contacts are added to my list and one contact group. I delete them and restart Kopete and 200 more NEW contacts are back within a matter of 5 minutes the app flickers and a new contact group has been added. This happens every time I use Kopete. I also notice that almost every new contact name seems to be porn bot related even in the newly added group when it pops in.

I have Yahoo messenger on a windows XP system and there are no new contacts added to my list,nor are there any new contact groups.

I am a Linux Newbee with only about 3 weeks under my belt and it's a real pain to keep clearing contacts and groups out. plus it seems like it could be some sort of security glitch.

Can you check in the XP version if these names are added in the ignorelist..

Go to preferences and then ignore list.

If these are listed here, then these names will disappear in the latest SVN version

I emptied the ignore list on yahoo from my XP system about 2 weeks ago.

Well it has been over a month now and I have installed all the bug updates that have popped up. Still when I log onto Kopete (3 times so far )I have found 200 or more new friends in the list and new groups that I did not add or accept. I have emptied my ignore list on yahoo from my XP machine twice more and names and groups still keep getting added to my Kopete list.Even if I delete them and chat with a friend  then close out Kopete and reopen it they return. even tried to delete them and restart the system and they keep coming back as fast as the program starts.This is a BIG Problem for me....please help! Someone...Anyone!

Update!  I finally got it to stop. It was pulling all the ignore list users from yahoo. All the times I thought I had cleared the list,Yahoo never dumped it.  I had to clear the list and then set it to ignore anyone that was not on my friends list,save the setting then go back and reset it to normal and save it again....then the list stayed clear. For now the problem seems solved, but if I add anyone to the ignore list they get pulled into my friends list in Kopete again.

I hope someone can get this glitch fixed soon so I can use ignore in yahoo again on my other windows OS systems.

Hello from the KDE Bugsquad!

Unfortunately, Yahoo has discontinued the Yahoo Messenger service, and the code has been removed from Kopete.

Thus, I am closing this bug as "UNMAINTAINED" since it will no longer be fixable, or able to operate due to Yahoo.
