Description Milan Knížek 2010-01-24 20:55:50 UTC
Version: 1.0.0 (using KDE 4.3.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

When working with thumbnails in the main view pane of digiKam, it is common to select more images, apply tags to the whole group and do other "batch" changes.

However, when the user opens the Batch Queue Manager, the pre-selected images are ignored and one has to create a new list by drag&dropping images from the digiKam main pane (which is really clumsy, especially on smaller screens).

It would be easier to have the pre-selected images from the main pane automatically added to the first queue in the Batch Queue Manager.

You can achieve this by pressing ctrl + b.

How do you normally start the batch queue manager? From the menu? I think the entries for ctrl + b and ctrl + l (lighttable) are simply missing there. We should add them.

Pressing ctrl+b opens the Batch Queue Manager and loads the pre-selected images.

In the drop-down menu, only "B" as a shortcut is shown. When I press "b" alone, the images are not loaded to the list - the same as I described above. (I use Gnome+Compiz.)

So it seems a bug instead of a wishlist?

I think it's a usability issue. Both actions (opening bqm without adding images and opening bqm from selection) are intended but not well outlined in the GUI.

To my mind only the actions filling the the bqm or lighttable make sense from the context menu. In the menu all actions should be available.

Any other opinions on this?

Adding two methods of running BQM from the menu may be clumsy.

How about possibility to click on some button in BQM "add selected images now"?

Or:

x if only a single thumbnail is selected, nothing is added to the BQM queue.

x if more than one thumbnail is selected, the selection is added to the BQM queue.

I just looked over this report again. The context menu only has the actions to add images to the bqm or the light table. In the menu bar these actions are present in the "image" menu. So I don't see a problem here any more.

Please reopen if needed.
