Description Thomas McGuire 2010-01-22 17:49:25 UTC
KMail can't do IMAP searches anymore.
Currently, the searches use Akonadi, which in turn uses Nepomuk to search all messages that are indexed by Nepomuk.

That of course doesn't include messages on the IMAP server, and also all messages that are not locally cached.

In any case, searches on the IMAP server should be done with the special IMAP command for it.

I confirm this bug. I can't search using "Advanced Search" (I mean Find Messages" dialog box. My mailbox is on MS Exchange.
Version 4.10.3.

i can confirm this bug. Using KDE 4.10.5 on gentoo.

Advanced Search does only return some messages (and not all messages wich contain the keyword), and is very unreliable. The above mentioned cache behaviour might be an explanation for this.

Comment 10 George Moutsopoulos 2017-01-16 12:45:04 UTC
How can I use it in Version 5.2.3? Advanced search does not seem to work at all here.

This bug has long been fixed. There are some new search-related bugs, but those probably have nothing to do withthis one.

To find recent search-related bugs, please search for "component:search :kmail2" in Bugzilla. If your Bug is not there, please open a new one.
