What I was doing when the application crashed:
Booted my laptop and logged in. A crash dialog soon started thereafter. After that, the window management (e.g. selection of current window) didn't work and several items were missing on the desktop (can't remember exactly which ones).

I have the following Plasma Widgets on my desktop:
Folder View, Calculator, LCD Weather Station, Microblogging, System Monitor Temperature.

bug in the installation somewhere; it died in Qt when trying to get at session management
