This now also happened to me when moving emails locally, i.e. when IMAP is not involved at all. Thought this additional piece of data would perhaps be helpful.

Me too, same backtrace, 4.4 branch packaged for openSUSE. I can test patches.

Easily reproduceable by filtering the message list with a string from the subject, ctrl-A to select all messages, /m/ove to folder, type to select folder, Ok, boom.

Kontact crashed when dragged some mails from one folder to other. Steps I made:
1) Filtered mails with "Mantis Bug Tracker" text.
2) Selected all the mails that complied the filter and dragged to a child folder of the current folder.
3) Kontact crashed when released mouse with the attached error.

My folders use maildir. I can't reproduce the error.

Like one of the dupes, I was deleting a thread from my maildir inbox (that is, moving the thread to the trash -- which is also a maildir).
Comment 25 Shai 2010-08-15 00:56:25 UTC
Now that I've restarted, I see that this has already happened to me before. What's more, what also happened before is that ~2 weeks' worth of mail has become unread, regardless of whether it was marked read or even replied-to.

I don't know about other people's workflows, but for me this is a data-loss bug.

[Comment from a bug triager]
From bug 256666:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
1. "S" to search for messages, specify criteria, click on a matching email.
2. In KMail main main window select matching message and a few other messages
3. "M" to move to another folder
After a few iterations KMail crashes.
BTW the configure maul filters was open but I don't know whether this is
relevant.
