Version: (using KDE 4.3.4)
Installed from: Unspecified Linux

‎The "Apply" button is missing from the Edit Contact dialogue. Please put it back. I like to :w and Ctrl-S every ten seconds, I have been bitten before!

Hej Dotan,

we don't need an apply button anymore with Akonadi as storage
backend. Either you save the contact by clicking 'Ok' or you
don't by clicking 'Cancel', there is nothing in between...

Ciao,
Tobias

How about saving without closing (aka "apply")? Sometimes, when making some important changes, you may want to save them and keep editing - thats what the apply button is good for and why it's needed.

Like Reini mentioned, there are many use cases in which one wants to save yet continue editing. Please reconsider.

Please reference bug 233078 for discussion on why this should be considered a
regression and not a new feature request.

An use case which could be considered is the following:

1) "Tom" wants to edit a contact and starts editing
2) "Tom" is interrupted by a phone call but he needs to complete to edit the "business" tab
3) "Tom" doesn't want to close the dialog in order to save and reopen it after the call
4) while "Tom" is talking there is some failure... kaddressbok is crashed, the power goes off, godzilla is coming... :-)
5) "Tom" ends the call and the kaddressbok edit dialog is gone, and nothing has been saved to the akonadi backend.

=> an "Apply" button could be useful to save a middle state of the editing without closing and reopening the dialog. Usually this is the purpose :-) :-) :-) :-)
