Is this bug still reproducible on 4.4.4? I've tried on some 4.4.4 installations but I've not noticed this problem.

I checked two KDE SC 4.4.2 installs and neither have the Kaddressbook Contacts plugin. Maybe that's why it's not happening for you in 4.4.x? :)
