Why not make the kdm login dialog look like the plasma bottom bar? That way one could have a great background without the login dialog cluttering up the screen

i'm not sure what you mean, but i'll just defer it to "the plasma task", as the regular greeter is not going to change.

ok, i think i understand what you mean - "gdm rip-off" would have done. ;)
anyway, i generalized the problem in a new "master task".
