I can confirm this bug in KDE 4.4 This is very annoying especially for RAM monitor as the number that indicates RAM usage exceeds the plasmoid 's length when in tray. I confirm this in the final 4.4.0 release (Gentoo). I think it's possible to live with one predefined color(but not ), but the text on top is really annoying and there is no way to remove it. Dear developers, please restore previous functionality(all of it). Is there an option in plasma-desktop-appletsrc to hide the text (labels) of the system monitor, so at least we can do this by hand? *** This bug has been confirmed by popular vote. *** I second Vasileios's question: is there a hidden option to hide the label? I can live with the rest. Let's hope this option will return in 4.4.1. The monitor plasmoids got some love in 4.6 :) They look significantly prettier and tidier. It looks like there's no appearance configuration any more, though. Yes, at least look of the monitor has indeed improved. But it would be certainly better if you can, for example define different colors for different network monitors etc. (not that I dislike current choice of colors). BTW under Gentoo I still get for kde-base/plasma-workspace-4.6.3-r2 : * QA Notice: Package has poor programming practices which may compile * fine but exhibit random runtime failures. * /usr/include/KDE/../kdebug.h:260: warning: array subscript is above array bounds Is this a harmless warning ? What a pity that those colors never came back. *** Bug 230775 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Hello! This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable. Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging Thanks for your understanding!
