This looks related to bug 203249 / bug 203784 and its duplicates. So I guess it is not properly fixed.. From bug 228791: -- Information about the crash: Monitor screen gets black for several seconds when applying some combinations of the place and wheather service provider,e.g. "Google wheather service". The new settings eventually are not applied. This behiour repeats until you change the place or the wheather service provider in the widget settings window. The crash can be reproduced some of the time. *** Bug 228791 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 227637 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** From bug 227637: -- Information about the crash: crash when setting new provider for weather plasmoid *** Bug 236979 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 233629 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 237082 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 237568 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** do you reproduce with kde 4.4.4 or 4.5beta ? just reproduced your crash on kde 4.4.4 i will look if i can find some infos yes crashed for the same reason here : Thread 1 (Thread 0xb1b7f6f0 (LWP 2400)): [KCrash Handler] #6 d_func (this=0x0) at itemviews/qabstractitemview.h:353 #7 QAbstractItemView::model (this=0x0) at itemviews/qabstractitemview.cpp:691 #8 0xb7272b45 in Plasma::TreeView::model (this=0x8e1f458) at /home/niconico/rpm/BUILD/kdelibs-4.4.3/plasma/widgets/treeview.cpp:66 #9 0xa639b4ed in WeatherApplet::weatherContent (this=0x8cd3408, data=...) at /home/niconico/SVN/4.4/kdeplasma-addons/applets/weather/weatherapplet.cpp:626 #10 0xa639cfc7 in WeatherApplet::dataUpdated (this=0x8cd3408, source=..., data=...) at /home/niconico/SVN/4.4/kdeplasma-addons/applets/weather/weatherapplet.cpp:737 #11 0xa639e137 in WeatherApplet::qt_metacall (this=0x8cd3408, _c=QMetaObject::InvokeMetaMethod, _id=68, _a=0xbfdcab04) at /home/niconico/SVN/4.4/kdeplasma-addons/build/applets/weather/weatherapplet.moc:80 #12 0xb5810ded in QMetaObject::metacall (object=0x8cd3408, cl=4294967295, idx=68, argv=0xbfdcab04) at kernel/qmetaobject.cpp:237 #13 0xb581fc5a in QMetaObject::activate (sender=0x97af378, m=0xb7335804, local_signal_index=0, argv=0xbfdcab04) at kernel/qobject.cpp:3293 #14 0xb71d4aa9 in Plasma::SignalRelay::dataUpdated (this=0x97af378, _t1=..., _t2=...) at /home/niconico/rpm/BUILD/kdelibs-4.4.3/build/plasma/datacontainer_p.moc:85 #15 0xb71d4ca1 in Plasma::SignalRelay::checkQueueing (this=0x97af378) at /home/niconico/rpm/BUILD/kdelibs-4.4.3/plasma/private/datacontainer_p.cpp:115 #16 0xb7195fea in Plasma::DataContainer::checkForUpdate (this=0x8f530e0) at /home/niconico/rpm/BUILD/kdelibs-4.4.3/plasma/datacontainer.cpp:170 *** Bug 241206 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 241314 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 243802 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Created attachment 48648 [details]
New crash information added by DrKonqi
plasma-desktop (0.3) on KDE Platform 4.4.90 (KDE 4.4.90 (KDE 4.5 RC1)) using Qt 4.7.0
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
Changed to a different location provider in the weather applet, hit apply and plasma crashed.
i figured out when changing from google to accuweather then theres no info of the about the condition at all (a question mark replaces the weather symbol), but when reversing back to google (weather service) it CRASHES PLASMA ALL THE TIME.

New crash information added by DrKonqi
changing from wetter.de to BBC Weather I receive the warning that the wetter.de location string "Oviedo, Principality of Asturias, ES" is not found. I Ok the warning, delete all except Oviedo, hit search and it finds it and automatically "Oviedo, Spain" appears selected. Then I hit Save to keep this setting, screen becomes black and desktop restarts.

plasma-desktop (0.3) on KDE Platform 4.5.1 (KDE 4.5.1) using Qt 4.7.0
- What I was doing when the application crashed: Nothing unusual; typing in IRC (Konversation)
- Unusual behavior I noticed: Display flickered very oddly - the backscroll from IRC flickered briefly under the window, then Dr. Konqi popped up. I see in the BT that the weather applet was updating. I installed that an hour or so ago.

plasma-desktop (0.3) on KDE Platform 4.5.1 (KDE 4.5.1) using Qt 4.7.0
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
I was working on a remote server, primarily in emacs. I had just opened a pdf to view in emacs (I don't think this is related, but this is what I was doing)
Before the crash I noticed that some of the widgets in my main panel where going invisible and in their place I could see the background image they should have been covering.
I am submitting this because it seemed to involve more threads than other reports (up to thread 10)

plasma-desktop (0.3) on KDE Platform 4.5.1 (KDE 4.5.1) using Qt 4.7.0
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
1.Changed the weather report provider but that was minutes before the crash
2.Was on Firefox browsing when I got notified about Plasma crashing. Subjectively it felt that one of the web pages caused the crash, but the suggested similar reports made me focus on the weather applet change. Hope the backtrace confirms other reports.

I'm a bit puzzled by this bug, I don't have this issue. I'll have to confirm if this still happens in 4.6.x. reports have stopped coming in for this one since 4.6.x. closing, though we will re-open if it re-surfaces. |
