Actually, I think it could be even better if we had an option in the toolbar: "Add code snippet". Ignoring new lines in <pre> blocks is already committed to the trunk, but I don't think that they should be ignored in <code> tags, too. If you use the latest code from svn and this problem exists with <pre> tags, please inform us. And about adding an option for <pre> tags to the toolbar, I'm agree, we add it for the next release (because of kde4.4 feature freeze). Thank you for the bug report.
