Please provide a configuration feature that allows automatically disabling the mouse pad when another mouse is plugged in.  Some of the new mouse pads are extremely sensitive and a light touch of the pad when you are typing enters lots of characters creating chaos.  When you are working only with a pad, that is one of the things you must deal with, but when you have a "real" mouse plugged in, I would like to have a mode that will automatically disable my pad -- at least for "selections" and entering the equivalent of keystrokes.

If this should be automatic, it would have to be done inside X11. You could still use the synaptic tools to turn touchpad on and off, e.g. via a hotkey. For more information, see http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=KDE+turn+off+touchpad
