Very simple. Akonadi pulls my calendar from a remote folder on the Internet. Sometimes works well, usually not. I generally receive an message that it is unavailable. It occurred to me that the reason likely is that it is trying to access it before I'm connecting to the network. 

Being able to set a delay before it polls would be fantastic. Per resource would be nice, but a kind of setting for a delay would be nice.
