When you click on the the main desktop in 4.3.85 nothing shows up,in 4.3.80 there was  a list of options,you could change the desktop settings,run commands etc.

Somehow the Installed from : info got messed up,ive installed from kubuntu beta PPA
Kubuntu 9.10 x64 platform

- Did you changed your main activity to "Search and Launch" ?

apparently after getting a fresh .kde directory the problem dissappears

apparently the problem reappeared today,it seems the right click action was somehow deleted from the mouse settings in the desktop settings dialog

this was an intermittent issue during the lead up to 4.4 but works reliably now.
