Description David Greene 2009-12-16 00:18:16 UTC
Version: kde-installer-gui-latest.exe (from windows.kde.org) (using KDE 4.3.4)
Compiler: VC++ Chose to install VC++-compiled binaries in the installer
OS: MS Windows
Installed from: MS Windows

Running the latest Windows GUI installer on XP SP3 (64-bit host) results in the following message immediately after packages are installed:

The instruction at '0x7c9131a6' referenced memory at "0x00000001". The memory could not be "read".

Clicking "Cancel" to debug gives no useful information. Clicking "Ok" or "Cancel" causes the installer to report that it is finished. None of the package post-processing appears to have been done as there are no start menu entries or anything that looks like a runnable KDE application.

Running any KDE program from the installation dfirectory gives a very similar fault error, though the applications appear to start.

This is XP Professional 2002, SP3. I simply ran the installed from the web page and followed the instructions. I selected all KDE packages to install.

Has anyone seen this bug yet?

Please try KDE 4.10.2 to see whether the problem still exists.
