I know tabbed window management is the new big thing but kwin seems to be a bit too enthusiastic. 

When I restart kwin to workaround the no global shortcuts bug, the existing non-tabbed windows are mostly combined as tabs of one window without any recognisable pattern.

SVN commit 1062347 by lmurray:

Be more strict with tab autogrouping after an in-session KWin restart.
This is probably as good as it gets without adding window properties.
