Description fumblefingers 2009-12-09 00:03:38 UTC
Version: 3.5.9 (using 3.5.10, Debian Package 4:3.5.10.dfsg.1-0lenny3 (5.0.3))
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.27-1-mepis-smp

Nothing I do will enable addressbook to save to the addressbook file-resource (or any other attempted addressbook.) Working from root login, and root has cosmic access to the target address, yet the app "can't get access".

Side note: there is no "OK" button at bottom of editor page as shown in help file; info entered in the edit page is added to designated file buffer, but no way to save it to disk.

I managed, by booting a Mepis 8.0.12 live cd in r/w filesystem mode, to create the addressbook resource in the desired non-default location, and to import addresses from .csv files and save the resulting combined file. When I booted the installed Mepis 8.06 as usual, I was able to save new entries to that addressbook as I would have expected.

I have no idea what was going wrong before; it is strongly anti-intuitive that I should have been able to save entries now, when I couldn't before, in the same location, and everything else the same except that there was a pre-existing non-empty file this time. <shrug>
