Changing line 42 of pykdeuic4 from return "kdecore.i18n(\"%s\")" % (self.escape(self.string),) to return "kdecore.i18n(\"%s\")" % (qtproxies.escape(self.string),) removed the error and gave me a pykdeuic4 that functioned as expected.
