Description Gleb Kulikov 2009-11-26 06:08:50 UTC
Version: 2.3.3 (using KDE 4.3.3)
Compiler: gcc version 4.4.2 20091027
OS: Linux
Installed from: Unspecified Linux

kget always ignores proxy settings. No matter, is proxy activated (in the Control Center, or via system environment): Kget always tries to use direct connection, even if no direct connection is available at all.

Tracing the network (by Wireshark) shows, no proxy requests are performed.

KGet just uses KIO, so it should automagically use the Proxy...

Maybe the problem is somewhere deeper?

Have you tried to download the same files with konqueror (without KGet integration? Is the proxy used then?

Have you also tried with more recent versions of KDE?

What Linux distribution do you use? It might be that something is configured incorrectly for you.
Comment 3 Gleb Kulikov 2010-05-31 18:06:36 UTC
1. Konqueror (without KGet) get any files well, if (http) is used. If i need to download any file via (ftp) and no direct connection is presented, konqueror shows blank page with ("name, size, date" fields) and nothing more happens.

This phenomena is observed sience some of updates from KDE 4.2

2. I'm using the latests more-or-less stable versions of KDE from the repository of my distribution.

2.1 Currently i'm working with KDE 4.4.3 x86_64

3. My distribution is ALT Linux Sisyphus X86_64 (http://www.altlinux.org) (the same behaviour is on more stable branches). I hope, this distribution provides one of the bestes builds of KDE, so i *do not hope* that the problem is distribution-specific.

4. I do suspect, this effect does not have place on i586, but currently i can not confirm that.
Comment 4 Matthias Fuchs 2010-06-06 17:23:27 UTC
So Konqueror gets files from http fine while KGet _always_ ignores the proxy you set?
Comment 5 Christoph Feck 2010-08-12 16:10:51 UTC
Is the bug still reproducible with a recent version (4.4.5 or 4.5.0)?

I need your (Gleb Kulikov) input here. In any case this could be related to BUG:155707.

Hello, Matthias.

Yes, the bug is still here (KDE 4.5.2, amd x86_64).
Nor kget, nor konqueror DOES NOT allow to work wit ftp:// being behind of proxy.

(ps: my network address is a "white" one, but is not routed directed to the Net because of corporate policy, may be this may help. What kind of asdditional info may i submit?)
Comment 8 Matthias Fuchs 2010-11-08 11:06:48 UTC
Ok, then this really looks like the bug I mentioned.
I'm afraid I can't help you there because I lack the deeper KIO knowledge.

Maybe if you describe your problem at BUG 155707 they can help.
