Last watch items selected in Firefox web browser

Description andrew brewster 2009-11-23 21:55:03 UTC
Version: 4.3.2 (using KDE 4.3.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Mandriva RPMs

On a MyEbay page with items in the watch list, to remove ites you no longer wish to watch, you click in a checkbox then click the Remove button at the bottom of the list. When you click in a checkbox, a grey area covers the item you want to remove. The grey area can overlap with the one below by a large margin, so that if you try and remove the last two items in the list, the grey area covers the Remove button.
I presume this is something like a new div element inserted into the DOM, with a CSS z-index value higher than the main page contents and displaying 'above' it, hence the Remove button cannot be selected or pressed.

Watch item covered by grey area on MyEbay page

Penultimate item in list is selected - grey area covers last item and control buttons below

Last watch items selected in Firefox web browser

Second attachment shows the page rendered in Firefox web browser, where the buttons are not blocked from being pressed, the grey area marking a selected item is mostly confined within each row of the table

I can confirm this is still a problem with Konqueror 4.4.3 (Debian unstable here) - the area masking the selected item reaches over the height of the item's row (only in konqueror, not firefox, not opera etc.). Though it is translucent everything that is covered by that mask is not clickable.

Bug 220803 seems to be a duplicate.

Works when I switch from KHTML to webkit mode. The whole "my ebay" looks a look clearer and the columns now have the correct width.

Dear Bug Submitter,

This bug has been stagnant for a long time. Could you help us out and re-test if the bug is valid in the latest version? I am setting the status to NEEDSINFO pending your response, please change the Status back to REPORTED when you respond.

Thank you for helping us make KDE software even better for everyone!

Used Konqueror 5.097, KF5 5.42 to retest. Its a bit moot, ebay watch page design has changed so the obstructive element no longer seems to be there, and Konqueror in KHTML mode is barely able to display half the page layout now anyway.

Dear user,

KHTML (and KJS) was a long time more or less unmaintained and got removed in KF6.

Please migrate to use a QWebEngine based HTML component.

We will do no further fixes or improvements to the KF5 branches of these components beside important security fixes.

For security issues, please see:

https://kde.org/info/security/

Sorry that we did not fix this issue during the life-time of KHTML.

Greetings
Christoph Cullmann
