Description john 2009-11-17 04:55:20 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.2)
Compiler: package obtained from ubuntu 9.10 karmic Koala updated to kubuntu-desktop
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Chose "Application Launcher" -> Settings -> system settings.

Clicked on Advanced tab and chose service manager.

Unchecked "Power Devil" and "Free space notifier" in startup services.

Then clicked "Apply" button.

Then went ahead, highlighted "Power Devil" and stopped the service when the crash happened.

I was able to reproduce this twice.

If this boils down to what I'm thinking, it's a serious one. Can you please tell me if you get this crash randomly when PowerDevil is not running?
Comment 2 john 2009-12-20 16:25:13 UTC
No. I do not get this type of crash at other times. Sometimes Kate crashes when I open something from gnome but not from kde.

Not a duplicate.
Comment 11 john 2010-10-14 08:34:20 UTC
I do not see this issue in version kde 4.5.1. that I installed with 10.10. I am not sure if what was called "power devil" before is not "blue devil" or "power management". In any case it has been resolved.
It might have probably been resolved in the earlier versions as well. Thank you very much to the Developers and others who worked on this bug to rectify it. Love KDE. And sorry for notifying it late.

[Comment from a bug triager]
Mh, there are cases from KDE SC 4.5.1: comment 7 and bug 261482.
- Is this fixed in some version after 4.5.1 or it is still unfixed ?
Regards
