Description Mark 2009-11-13 20:43:43 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.3)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

occasionally a task manager entry for an application will get "stuck" on the plasma panel. I have seen this happen now for kopete and Mail - Kontact. Closing the actual application does not help. Only removing and adding the task plasmoid will remove it (or logging off and back on). Clicking on the ghost entry does nothing. Right clicking brings up the context menu, but all entries are ineffectual.

I searched the web for this problem and found another user reporting the same issue here: http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=77447&hilit=ghost+application

They were instructed to file a bug report, but apparently never did, so I did instead.

That user seems to have the problem connected to launch notification, while my issue seems related to apps that hide their window when their close-window button is clicked (rather than terminating), i.e. kontact and kopete.
