I have kopete set to go auto away. but when it returns I get a pop up asking if it wants to return. I personally just use away to say if I'm at my computer, so I'd like it to return automatically from auto away. Given I think other people may like this behavior. would it be possible to add a menu option (and maybe checkbox in the dialog popup) to remember to always mark available from an auto-away?.

There is a check box you will have to check explicitly if you want to be asked. Asking is not the default. So just uncheck it. IIRC it is right beneath the one you used to enable auto-away.
