What I was doing when the application crashed:
When Kate shows this messagebox before opening the file kdevelop crashes.
"The file .... was opened with UTF-8 encoding but contained invalid characters. It is set to read-only mode, as saving might destroy its content. Either reopen the file with the correct encoding chosen or enable the read-write mode again in the menu to be able to edit it."

Reproducible with current trunk. (kdelibs not up-to-date)

Interesting that your backtrace vastly differs from the two we've got yesterday... Closing this as dupe too as its either a bug in kate (as indicated by the other backtrace) or a bug in Qt (as shown in this one).
