Feature. You can easily maximize on the other screen by dragging it to the top of the screen. To disable this new feature and use the old behavior you can disable the "Maximize windows by dragging them to the top of the screen" setting in System Settings -> Desktop -> Screen Edges. Ok, then the problem is that, by the introduction of this new feature, the default behaviour changed. I mean, it used to work as I described but a KDE update activated the feature. I'd prefer this to not be enabled by default, or to not enable it in upgrades. The "aero snap" setting was checked here but not applied unless de- and reactivated. And it's still useless ;-P What David apparently experiences is that the maximize flag is lost between screen changes. Whether this is due to "aero snap" or intended or a good idea - i don't know. Yes. The way I see it, they should not conflict. Unless some kwin dev does not like the old behaviour. I like it though ;) For now, I will disable "Maximize windows by dragging them to the top of the screen". I guess there's one bug and one wish in this report right now. I'm going to mark this as the upgrade settings wish. For the problem with quick maximization/tiling features not working at all please open a new bug report with some more information about your system--for example screen geometry and layout. Just to be sure: Are you pushing the cursor against the edge of the screen or just lightly touching it? It does require quite a push at the moment. Nevermind. It seems it is as you said. It was not really enabled then (though checked) and I failed to see the frame after. I would change the string to "Maximize windows by *dropping* them to the top of the screen", as dragging them to the top of the screen does not maximize them inmediately. I really don't like this behaviour - I would find it much more useful to have top-bottom tiling, and for it to keep maximised if you drag a window to the other screen without hitting the very top/bottom. Left/right tiling just makes no sense as sideways scrolling sucks (even on my widescreen monitor I'd have to sideways scroll). Could this be made an option? *** This bug has been confirmed by popular vote. *** As 4.4 has been released about half a year ago and we can't turn back the time it doesn't make sense to keep this wish open. Screen edge maximization has been enabled by default on upgrade and as it is unlikely that someone is upgrading from 4.3 directly to 4.5 it's not worth to implement it now. |
