What I was doing when the application crashed:
Having created a few filters from the subjects/to/from of several messages, I selected all messages in my inbox and applied all filters. Going to, "Settings --> Configure filters", changing a filter and clicking, "apply" in this time causes a crash.

This area should be greyed out/inactive while filters are being applied.

What I did just before : Selected all messages in an IMAP folder and hit Ctrl+J

Closing with worksforme, the filtering is now done by a dedicated Akonadi resource.
