Version:            (using KDE 4.3.1)
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    SuSE RPMs

When the screen is rotated (using xrandr), the font size for newly-opened applications is increased.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Run "xrandr -o 1" in a terminal (rotates screen 90 degrees)
2) Open an application

Current behavior:
The font size (for example, in the application menu bar) is bigger than normal.

Expected behavior:
The font size is the same, no matter if you have rotated the screen or not.

Could you provide the output of "xdpyinfo | grep dots" for both normal and rotated mode? It looks like the DPI setting is wrong.

  0°: 107x107, font is normal
 90°:  64x178, font is big
180°: 107x107, font is normal
270°:  64x178, font is big

Yes, this seems to be the cause.

A possible workaround for the problem:
systemsettings->appearance->fonts
force dpi to 96
