Open the Desktop Settings/Folder View Settings. (I'm using the old-style desktop.) In the Appearance tab, there's a dropdown labeled Type (Folder/Desktop). Note that there's a short description of each type. However, only the first part of the description is visible, due to a fade-out effect, and the space being too small.
