With the audiocd kio slave you get a list of the files on a cd in various formats. You can then drag those files to your hard drive to rip them.

I think having this feature in the videodvd kioslave would be very useful. You could have a list of the various titles displayed as raw mpeg2 format videos like how the audiocd displays the tracks as raw wav files. You would also have folders for various file formats, the chapters, the subtitles, and the audio. You just drag and drop the folder you want to your hard drive and it rips it for you.

I think this would be a natural extension of how things are done in the audiocd kio slave. There would have to be a configuration, probably in system settings, to set the settings for the various formats. But I think this is much more natural then having to go through some external ripping program.

99.99% of video DVDs are copy-protected and the files need to be transcoded with the encryption broken in order to be useful. I'm afraid this wouldn't be a useful feature without adding the above, which we can't do for both technical and legal reasons.
