I support this. There is a lot of space available in the detail-window. The Information for the contacts should be visible without openeing the editing window for several reasons: convenience - Having all the information available without opening another window is just faster logic - the EDITING dialog should be used for making CHANGES to the information, not viewing them. I would be happy if i could choose in the settings what info I could see at the right side. Created attachment 42352 [details]

And in the homepage category you can enter an IM-address for skype, MSN messenger etc. but it isn't shown. Only one IM-address is shown and it is not shown which one. It has been more than Version: (using KDE 4.3.2) OS: Linux Problem: -------- A person's details view doesn't show all the data which is provided in the editing dialogue. For me as a user it is inconvenient having to go into the editing dialogue to get the missing information. Allowing the user to choose what information is given in the details view is a good idea, but unfortunately this is limited to birthday, postal addresses, e-mail addresses, phone numbers and websites. Suggestion: ----------- Please let the details view show all the information which is provided in the editing dialogue (including categories, privacy status, nickname, husband's or wife's name, logo, geo-data, customized entry fields, etc.). It would be a very convenient feature being able to decided for each piece of information if it is shown in the details view or not. My cat ran over my keyboard before I was able to change the text of my last comment. Sorry for the repeated content. Unfortunately I am not able to delete or alter it. So here I go again having my cat locked outside: It has been more than 15 years since I originally reported this issue and submitted a feature request, yet unfortunately, no improvements have been made. I recently decided to give KAddressBook (as part of Kontact) another chance because I truly appreciate KDE and its integration of various applications. Currently, I am using Manjaro with Kontact version 6.3.2 (24.12.2), but I was disappointed to find that the details view of a contact still does not display all the information available in the editing dialogue. What’s even more frustrating is that the situation has actually worsened. Previously, users had at least some limited control over which fields were shown in the details view. Now, that option seems to be completely gone, and even website information is omitted entirely. I understand that development resources are limited, at the same time this is a long-standing usability issue that affects anyone who relies on Kontact for managing contacts efficiently on a daily base. It would be greatly appreciated if a developer could take a fresh look at this and consider improving the details view to display all available information—or at the very least, restoring the previous customization options in a less limited way it used to be before. Thank you for your time and consideration. The way nextcloud solved this by using the details view also for editing everything by switiching between edit mode and regular viewing mode might by worthwhile considering as a usability improvement. |
