Version: (using KDE 4.3.1)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Klipper actions get triggered, when I mark a text, Even though I have set "Keep clipboard and text selection seperately". The text selection does not appear in clipboard, but it still triggers clipboard actions.

This bug might be related (not a dupe): https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=190688

Do you mean "ignore selection" is off? Whether PRIMARY and SELECTION is sync'ed shouldn't really matter for actions. Since you say that the selected text doesn't appear in your history, I assume you have "Ignore selection" on as well.
Comment 3 m.wege 2009-10-10 09:41:49 UTC
Oh, no. I had not turned "Ignore selection" on. No I did and it works fine. So not a bug. But somehow confusing. I was not really clear what it means. I would be more understandable if this option was the other way arround "[x] Trigger clipboard actions on selection".

Actually it means "ignore selection for clipboard history". But are you telling me that if you just mark something with the mouse, it is not recorded in the clipboard history even though "ignore selection" isn't checked? Because it really should (and it works here).

I really should get around to make the radio button section have three values: "Ignore selection", "keep separate", "synchronize".

Yes, I just tested it again. But I also have "keep clipboard and text selection
separated" checked. Therefor (at least from my point of view), this behaviour
is correct.

Hi
this "Ignore selection", "keep separate", "synchronize". looks good in 4.3.85.
But its not good that the default is on "synchronize".
Because use firefox etc and try to copy somethign you want for create and new dir and you do paste. You end up wiht it just repasting "Type name of new folder" etc
copy paste has become frustrating like that :)
I unchecked it but it was some one in #kde-devel that found it and I asked if this was the same problem and fixto uncheck it. He said yes I tried it and wew its working the way it should now.
But the new defaults cause problems now .

Yeah, something is wrong when migrating from 4.3->4.4. I will look into it as soon as I can.
