Works fine here. Does it work for you if kmail is already running ? No. Is there any way to "debug" this, meaning a kind of log? You can use kdebugdialog to turn on debug flags. If I do it here (openSuse 11.1), I see e.g. kdeinit4: preparing to launch /usr/bin/kmail kmail(11219) KMailApplication::newInstance: kmail(11219) KMKernel::openComposer: and I get the composer window. I found Kdebugdialog on Kubuntu too, but even though I turned on everything there was no output in the file relating to KMail. I might have done something wrong. Can you explan exactly how to use it? I think it only works with a debug build of KDE or probably also if you have installed the -debug packages (I'm not sure though). I'm not sure if the output helps a lot. You could also ask for further help on debugging via IRC on #kontact or via the KDE mailing lists, e.g. kdepim-users@kde.org I have installed debug packages. That does not do the trick. I will try to contact people for further debugging, but may be it will take some time. Compling KDE from trunk is on my list, but since I failed a few times following the instructions, it seems like a bigger project. seems to be ok in KDE 4.4 RC1 now. |
