Description Tomas Mecir 2009-10-08 15:14:03 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.1)
OS: Linux
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

Currently, Dolphin generates thumbnails on image files upon mouse-over and similar events. This is a good thing for local file systems, the problem is that it also does this on FTP and other remote filesystems / protocols. Problematic especially if you are on a slow and/or pay-for-transfer network. There used to be an option in KDE3 to specify which kioslaves the previews would be generated for, but this one doesn't seem to exist on KDE4 currently. The existing option to disable thumbnails on a per-directory basis isn't really a suitable replacement.

I'd like to ask for an option to specify which kioslaves should be excluded from automatic thumbnail generation, and ideally also that kioslaves such as ftp or fish are excluded by default.

Thanks!
