When visiting http://blog.kov.eti.br/?p=92 Konqueror starts trashing the system after a few seconds:

$ ps axv | grep konqueror

will give the following for several iterations:

 5521 ?        Sl     0:02    213    36 172687 57896 11.4 kdeinit4: konqueror [kdeinit] --silent

 5521 ?        Rl     0:05    213    36 331427 213628 42.2 kdeinit4: konqueror [kdeinit] --silent

Once it hits Mem > 60% swapping starts and only a killall konqueror gives back the system (thus tagging 'Crash').

On inspection it seems the following code triggers this behaviour:

While Konqueror can show this animated .gif directly, embeding it in HTML will yield the described behaviour.

I am running current Debian unstable, but can provide specific version information on request.

I could reproduce the memleak and heavy CPU usage here:

Qt: 4.6.0 (Qt git branch 4.6 commit f3d15516572394b6bcd44a89dd66516fa4eba56e
        Date:   Fri Sep 25 10:21:23 2009 +1000)
KDE: 4.3.70 (KDE 4.3.70 (KDE 4.4 >= 20091002))
kdelibs svn rev. 1030916 / kdebase svn rev. 1030916
on ArchLinux i686 - Kernel 2.6.30.6

Nice, the GIF is 16,9Mb....

Using a three years old notebook, the CPU and the memory usage is quite high, with a more recent PC the situation is quite better, anyway the CPU and the RAM are stressed too.
