Description Stefan Kebekus 2009-09-30 08:11:18 UTC
Version: 1.12.1 (using 4.3.1 (KDE 4.3.1) "release 161", KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop / openSUSE_11.1)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.27.29-0.1-default

I often receive e-mails with a large number of fairly large attachments that I do not want to keep. Before moving the e-mail to the folder where I store such mails, I remove the attachments. I am very glad that kmail offers such a feature.

However, there are two usability issues in the implementation

(1) Every time I use the "remove attachment" from the menu, kmail warns me "Removing the attachment might make the digital signature invalid", even if the mail is not digitally signed. This is quite annoying. I suggest to show this warning only if the mail in question is signed AND if the signature is valid. Perhaps there should be an option to remove the signature once it becomes invalid?

(2) Every time I have removed an attachment, kmail does not show the mail anymore, but proceeds to show the next mail. If I remove many attachments, I will have to go back to the original mail times and again, which is quite annoying.

It would be great if these two issues could be fixed. I appreciate your efforts!

Best,

Stefan Kebekus.

I can confirm (1), but not (2). Focus stays on message after having removed an attachment in KDE 4.4.0

I confirm 1 but not 2
Will look at 1

That surprises me: (2) has happened to me every time that I can remember. Focus always moves to the next message in the thread. (Kmail 1.13.7 on KDE 4.6.5)

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
