What I was doing when the application crashed:
Systemsettings -> Icons
Get New Themes
Highlight a theme and click on "Install"
Oxygen Balls appear and go round briefly but nothing else happens
Click on Systemsettings, leaving "hotnewstuff" window open, to see if the new theme has been made available - it hasn't
Click on "Get new themes" again to bring hotnewstuff window back to foreground
