plasma panel with the smooth tasks plasmoid on 1440 width
I'd love this feature too. I have played around a lot with docks and different start menus and the small pin icons in my opinion are the best solution for many applications opened on a smallish screen. Being able to start your favorite apps without going through the Kicker menu or by having doubled launcher icons would just put the icing on the cake. (I attached a screenshot of my panel) That would be great ! And NOT because I want KDE to rensemble Win7... but just cause it's pure convenience, and a godsend for netbook users who prefer to stay to plasma-desktop i vote for this feature omg, almost 1500 votes.... but no progress or something for libtaskmanager ? Well it is a wish, panos, not a todo. ;) The guys do a terrific job and I'm shure they'll get to it once they have time and free space on their agenda. Good things come to those that wait. Also I do believe that dockbarx under gnome has such a feature. Maybe there's someone to ask? *shrugs* 1800 votes, and unfortunatelly still no progress :( you can always use an alternative task manager, this is probably out of scope of the default one. there are plenty of them on kde-look (In reply to comment #10) All "alternative" task managers use libtaskmanager so using them won't help. (In reply to comment #7) (In reply to comment #9) KDE is free project, feel free to contribute ... I'm using the fancy tasks plugin. I think the developer has found a good workaround for the time being. http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Fancy+Tasks?content=99737 On KDE 4.4.4 in my configuration: - Launchers can be added inside the fancy tasks settings into a "quick start" bar. - Started Applications won't get duplicated, once an instance exists, the launcher is removed and the started application moves into the running tasks part of the task panel (configurable) - Already started application can be opened in a new instance by middle clicking the icon - Started Applications can be grouped and degrouped as necessary I hope I'm not missing the point here - but IMO it works rather well. i vote for this feature i vote for this feature talika has done this for the gnome panel and it's really such a nifty feature to have. Docks in panel mode --- yes, but nothing like the convenience of the feature explained above. I've seen that daisy[1] seems to do it (but I didn't try yet). How does daisy implement that? Maybe it could be derived from there? It's called "hybrid launchers" in the feature list. [1]: http://cdlszm.org/pages/about.php This feature will be shipping in 4.6, with support in the default Task Manager widget. In 4.6 RC2, a launcher does not appear immediately after the window closes. You need to switch to another desktop to see the launcher. @Alexander: I believe you are correct in that. Can you please file that as a separate bug report, if it is not already filed? Thanks Done, bug#262487 |
