First I think support for the rsync protocol would be an excelent addition to konqueror.  Many UNIX packages come with rsync installed standard.  If you aren't familiar with the protocol it is a file transfer protocol that has the ability to send only the parts of binary files that are missing in the existing file.  (Or the whole file if it doesn't already exist.)  see http://samba.anu.edu.au/rsync for more on the rsync protocol.  It is excellent for backing up directories where only a few files may change or where files may change only slightly from the previous transfer.

Also many protocols including rsync sftp and cvs can use ssh as a transport mechanism for the file transfer to provide an encrytped channel.  Support for using ssh as a transport would be another excellent addition to konqueror.

i would prefer using unison instead or plus rsync. Rsync is not bidirectional.

Perhaps cervisia could be a better place to implement.

rsync support would be good. As someone managing the backups of various machines, it would be nice to be able to confirm that the remote rsync daemon is working by typing in an rsync:// URL rather than hacking about at the command line.

We have ssh and sftp protocols but still not rsync as of KDE 4.0.3

Six years after the last post and I would like to bump this feature request because I believe it would be incredibly useful and handy. Sftp in Dolphin is an amazing feature so adding rsync on top of ssh would be the perfect compliment.

Doesn't seem likely, sorry. Patches are always accepted though, and if someone wants to implement the requested feature, they won't need this bug report to do so!
