Did you get duplicated contacts (empty or without protocol icons) in contact list after you have lost custom data? There was a time when I used to get many duplicate contacts, however this is not the case with the current version of KDE / Kopete. The problem described in the bug report has not occurred to me since KDE 4.3.x, so I suspect the bug has been fixed. Dear Bug Submitter, This bug has been stagnant for a long time.
