Version:           1.12.1 (using 4.3.1 (KDE 4.3.1) "release 163", KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop / openSUSE_11.1)
Compiler:          gcc
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.27.29-0.1-pae

in the new message list view mails are either "new" or "read", but they never get the status "unread" as it was done in KDE3.
In KDE3 when I entered a folder with new mails, left it and came back, the mails were no longer "new" but "unread".

Same behavior on kmail 1.12.4 (KDE SC 4.3.5 - Kubuntu 9.10+backports).
I'll try to check on KDE SC 4.4 (Kubuntu 10.04 alpha2) tonight and report my findings.

I'd like this fixed if possible :)

Behavior still present in Kmail 1.13.0 on KDE SC 4.4.00.

Tested with Kubuntu 9.10, KDE SC upgraded from backports PPA.

BTW, shouldn't kdepim-bugs@kde.org be CC'd on this?

Obviously in kmail2 there no longer is the status "new".
I only have "read" or "unread" and this seems to work.
