Version: (using KDE 4.3.1)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

Dear maintainers,

I discovered, that the process "nspluginviewer" (part of package konqueror-nsplugins), which is initiated by
konqueror is still running, when konqueror was ended.

IMO this process should be ended, too, when konqueror is ended. The main
problem is, that the still running process "nspluginviewer" is consuming a
lot of cpu power (almost 10-15 percent), which causes two new (and not needed) things:

1. the cpu will never cool down (so on notebooks the cooler is always running and making noise)

2. inhibits to slow down cpu clock on mobile cpus (i.e. from 1,9GHz to 800Mhz in my case)

It would be nice, if you could have an eye on this problem.

BTW: For what is nspluginviewer needed? For what cases is it needed?

Thank you very much! Regards

Hans-J. Ullrich

Same problem here. Konqueror 4.3.1 under Gentoo Linux. nspluginviewer consumes about 50 percent of my cpu (dual core). No open konqueror window.

Maybe, it's because one konqueror instance is always keept in background to improve startup time (default setting).

Isn't this a duplicate of bug 182869?

Hello:

I also agree with this bug (KDE 4.3.2) but I think some clarifications are needed. In my opinion, this bug is about terminating nsplugin once it's not useful. I propose tracking the nsplugins spawned by konqueror (I guess) and terminating them once they are not needed anymore, for instance, when a tab relying on flash contents is closed.

Following this rationale, I don't think this is a dupe of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=182869 as #2, proposed. That bug i about nsplugin bad performance.

How difficult would it be implementing my above proposal?

Thanks.
